The Rugby Football League has initiated an inquiry into Wakefield Trinity. Following this St Helens filing a complaint about a contested bid for Harry Robertson.
In a statement, St Helens said it thinks Wakefield may have violated membership rules. The RFL said it will examine the details and determine if any violations occurred.
Team representatives have been asked to submit documents. RFL officials will meet club reps in the coming days.
The findings could impact deals as the league play continues.
