China's Tianwen-2 arrived near near-Earth asteroid Kamoʻoalewa on its scheduled date. The probe captured the first close-up images of the object known as Earth’s mini moon. It began scientific tests while in deep space as it was 1 billion kilometers from Earth. State media shared live updates throughout the operation as teams confirmed the success.
