Two amateur runners died after collapsing at the 2026 Great North Run. Both runners were 25. Officers are now looking into a racism incident during the race.

The deaths were covered by Sky News and The New York Times. Runner's World also looked at whether the Prime Minister set a personal best. The magazine listed Andy Burnham's running times. No further details on the runners have been released.
