An backyard astronomer using Google Maps stumbled upon a big rounded depression in northern Quebec. Staff at Quebec’s geological survey authenticated it is a colossal meteorite impact crater formed around 390 million years near Lake Mistassini. The scar on the landscape resembles other confirmed craters and signals a cataclysmic long-ago blow. Satellite images were compared in detail field data to validate the finding.
