An Australian Federal Police detective in Canberra received a jail term following false statements regarding trial evidence.

The long-serving investigator spent decades putting offenders behind bars. He was responsible for what was called a career-destroying lie and a devastating mistake when he lied about court evidence.

Currently the Canberra detective must serve jail time near the prisoners he once targeted. The Australian Federal Police officer was sentenced to prison after spending decades building cases against offenders and securing their convictions prior to his conviction for giving false court evidence.
