Australia's superannuation system is facing strong pushback after a Labor minister raised an investment proposal that prompted broad backlash from financial media and industry observers. The AFR, The Australian, and The Nightly have each cautioned policymakers against turning superannuation into a policy lever, with some commentators describing the direction as "dangerous territory."

Separately, super funds have been put on notice over a rate tipping point, according to Super Review. The alert suggests growing pressure on fund performance that the industry cannot ignore. Meanwhile, reform proposals from One Nation and the Coalition are being criticised as inadequate, with the AFR reporting both plans do not fix a key structural gap in the system.
